Vehicle purchase advice - 2024 Kia Sonnet vs Honda Vezel (Z)

Postby kingjamestt » December 20th, 2024, 11:56 am

What's y'all take on the 2024 Kia Sonnet vs Honda Vezel 2024 (Z)? I want to upgrade from sedan to suv with a price budget of about 240k. I think the Vezel would be better on gas mileage and parts (considering the amount of them on the road), however I don't have any experience with hybrid vehicles (are you really saving on gas if you need to spend extra to maintain the hybrid system?). I do prefer the look of the Sonnet and the much higher ground clearance (170 Vezel vs 205 Sonnet) (I frequent POS daily). Finally I believe the sonnet would have much better resale value as I already see 2020 and 2019 Vezels going for around 100-120k.

Vezel parts would be easier to source...
KIA: prepare to face the stealership and make sure your pockets deep.

Traditionally, Honda has the better resale value than kia

Korean automobile parts are very easy to source online.

Buy whichever one you truly like but Kia has abysmal resale … older model Vezels dropped in price because there are a lot and the new models were more desirable.
When you’re ready to sell the Sonnet while it will be a more unique vehicle no one is going to be actively shopping around for a Sonnet.
But I believe in buying what you truly like because life is short

What about reliability. Hondas are more reliable than Kias, or so I hear.

I've had a Kia Sorento for the past 7 years, bought brand new. Never had any major issue with them, except the AC, which is apparently a known issue. Had to change the compressor and condenser. Only recently I've developed a rear seal leak which I will eventually fix. But I mean, after 7 years on a Kia that ain't bad. I plan to keep it around for a few more years.

So, even after all that, just let me say, I will never buy a Kia again. Southern Sales is rubbish. It's costly, and I've grown since: the more techy gadgets involved, the more things can go wrong. In the process of buying a Vezel Z and hopefully I get many years out of it.
