Forgive my noobness but what issue is raised by removing it? I get it on my B12 as well & someone told me it can be unplugged.

^^^ *shrugs* dunno how I missed that post nuh

I replaced my cluster in my last vehicle with a foreign used one and got the "ding"...was just a contact strip connected to the speedometer needle to switch on one of those piezoelectric alarm modules...removed piezo alarm and all was well

That older cars can't use any sort of brake fluid besides the stink yellow bottle lockheed..
Also that DOT4 or 5.1 brake fluid is the work of the devil and should never be used

ridiculousness

These actually work on older vehicles eh
My father did this wire switching with his Renault 12 and it worked. Mind you this was around 1978. Most of the tuners was still in liquid form. 8-) :)

forget engine flush / flushing fluid....just put some kerosene in the engine
conversely, fill engine with flushing oil and remove the oil filter so the engine will pump out all the flushing oil
I heard this last week

Think about that for a moment.... Is the original Diff oil expected to maintain all its properties forever?

@ MG, kerosene seems legit, will try that my next oil change.

chances are if it can be drained, it should be changed at certain intervals. My cousin had a jetta with a sealed automatic that was hard shifting. We ordered the VW fluid and drained and changed against the manufacturer specification and the shifting returned to normalcy. Manufacturer might have recommended the tranny be changed.
