The car companies just taking the tax break as additional profit
Where people getting $280kTT/equivalent USD to bring it in themselves?drchaos wrote:Shalom Vanamson wrote:Is it me or are the prices locally for the "2025" Hyundai Tuscon the same as before despite the "2025" version being 1.6 hybrid. Yup the tax exemptions are a huge savings that they are not passing onto you.
Xtrail epower cost 280K brand new landed when you bring it in yourself
Massy selling for around 400k or more?
A warranty is not worth 120K on that vehicle.
PariaMan wrote:That will make it less attractive to the buyer
It is at least a better system

You misread the consumption figuresDave wrote:5.4/5.5km/l is quite bad. Even the 12km/l isn't all that great but in your opinion are those numbers Suv territory?
Watched quite a few Australian car reviewers test the eforce epower Xtrail over a period of time and they have experienced that it isn't as fuel efficient as the Hybrid Rav 4 even though that has a 2.5l engine.kamakazi wrote:You misread the consumption figuresDave wrote:5.4/5.5km/l is quite bad. 5.4l per 100km ~ 18km per liter
12L per 100km ~ 8 km per liter

The BYD SeaLion which we have here as the Song Plus and even the Hybrid Tucson offered better mileage down under.

So this came out about a month ago. The largest size in its class slightly bigger than the new ranger. 2 engine choices for now which include the 2.2 diesel you would find in the Sorento with the same tune which surely wont be enough to move it around also the other option being a 2.5 turbo gas. Heated and ventialted front seats and heated and reclining rear seats Harman Kardon sound system etc.

Let's hope Nissan does not implode in the coming months lol.
Yea no arguments with you there.drchaos wrote:Dizzy28 wrote:Watched quite a few Australian car reviewers test the eforce epower Xtrail over a period of time and they have experienced that it isn't as fuel efficient as the Hybrid Rav 4 even though that has a 2.5l engine.kamakazi wrote:You misread the consumption figuresDave wrote:5.4/5.5km/l is quite bad. RAV 4 with a 2.5L engine is dotish in T&T unless you have money to literally light on fire since it carries no tax exemptions and taxes on a 2.5L engine is insane.
So no fuel economy advantage is gonna make up for the initial purchase price in T&T. I can probably buy two Xtrails for the price of a RAV 4 Hybrid.
BYD is wildly overpriced here as well and is chinese so i would wait for next gen and long term reviews.
Do we get a Tucson Hybrid here in Trinidad?
But yes internationally the RAV4 is the best hybrid SUV.

TTTL did bring the RAV4 hybrid which iirc was offered at 750k.
The Song Plus here started at 425 but now they have dropped to 399 but the Aussie version AWD sells for half that price. Small market/far side of the world or not that is insane
The Hybrid Tucson supposed to be here soon and the top end version of that at 365 might be worth a look. They have gone back to the traditional 6AT transmission which the Aussies loved.

Whoever distributing BYD down here just missing the boat completely these are cheap cars internationally with premium prices locally. A Yuan Plus is 17k USD but selling for almost 400k TTD this is no MVT or Customs Duty. Criminals running business
A smarter approach would have been to price this thing at about 280K TTD where you still make a healthy profit but you win even more on the volume game. You would easily move 3 times their current volumes at that price. sheit I would buy one never having to buy gas ever and charging it at home.
