So update on TV hunt. After looking at local retailers and the checking out rtings and reddit 4k sub on many of the models, came to the conclusion that we have is real sheit tvs and the ones I want are over 20k, so now looking to definetly import one now.

Superbowl coming up so gonna look for a lil sale this week. Biggest issue could be warranty and returns

Narrowed it down to the these, either 65" or 75" :

Sony X90L 75" - $1495 Usd

Lg c2/C3 OLED- 65" for $1436/ $1696 Usd

TCL QM8 mini LED - 65 & 75" @ $1198 and $1698

Hisense flagship UH8 75" @ $1598

i doh take insurance because i doh believe in financial services as a concept
Total skybox cost was like $5k

yes there is no warranty and if it break is mine, but the TV does look real good and have no problems as far

(also add about $3k for the colorimeter. i doh watch uncalibrated TV, people skin not suppose to be blue or purple)

Pricesmart has the 65 inch Samsung S90 for 17k. It's like$1600 on Amazon so I guess comparable if you were to bring in yourself. The rtings reviews are great too. I like Sony but Sony as a brand here is basically dead

this is a good option tbh. samsung is a crappy brand, but it is oled and locally available.

would have been better if it was bigger too

Sony x90 really has been rated the best mid tier overall TV 2023, so I'm very partial to it as well.

Thanks, appreciate the break down. Really using like 6k as a rough estimate for shipping. Lg OLEDs significantly lighter than the others though so freight would be less .

I've only ever had Sony's.
But it's one of the few with only one line sold internationally and not made for "our" side of the world.

I've only had Sony but my next will probably be a Samsung OLED as it's available locally. Seeing it side by side with other tvs really makes it stand out

Pass in pricesmart this evening and see they now have the LG C3 oled 65" for $15,999 which tbf really isnt bad seeing its $1600usd and 1 year warranty.

The Samsung s90c is $16,999, think I'll just decide between both of them instead of the import option.

From the display units, both of them clearly are the best there but the colors and vibrance of the s90 really drawing me in, for gaming the s90 is a no brainer but i on more streaming and sports. Know the c3 overall has better ratings.

Both oled and 4k, 144hz.
S90c has hdr10+ and c3 has Dolby Video

Have no idea what "p" means.

But it's very nice that pricesmart has the c3 now, didn't expect this.

Skyit.tt quote me between 20 and 21k to bring in a c3 with 3 months warranty .

My Samsung unit just died (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0076 ... UTF8&psc=1). Seems to be an issue with the motherboard according to the tech. It served me well for 12 years or so,...all speakers are still good.

The unit is discontinued and I am trying to come up with a new alternative (perhaps new system). Any suggestions for a comparable system?

Seems it's an all in one system with a proprietary plug for the speakers

If the sub is powered then you can simply buy a 5.1 receiver and connect your speakers to it.
If the sub isn't powered then you will need to buy a powered sub.

This Onkyo is decent for the price - includes Dolby Atmos

It is a bit hard to see, but in that image above it says "impedance 3Ω" next to the proprietary speaker outputs. There might be an issue since most receivers will only support speakers that are rated 4Ω ("4-ohm") or higher.

Check the impedance of your speakers: it may be written on the back of the speakers, or alternatively you can ballpark it by using a multimeter on the DC resistance scale (the nominal impedance will be a little higher than the DC resistance). If the speakers are 4Ω ("4-ohm") or higher, you can use a receiver like the one Duane linked.

Lower impedance speakers draw more current from the electronic circuitry. Lower impedance speakers might work fine at low gain/low volume, but if you turn it up, the circuitry might have too much current drawn and 'trip off' into protect mode or run hot or blow up or something non-ideal like that.

The subwoofer also seems to be using the same type of connector as the rest of the speakers. This suggests it is not a powered-subwoofer, so you won't be able to reuse it with the receiver Duane suggested. Check if the subwoofer has its own AC power plug: if so, it would be powered, otherwise it is unpowered.

My general advice is to avoid those Home-Theater-in-a-Box solutions and invest in real standalone speakers and subwoofers. The receiver you can update as time goes along. But good speakers never get outdated.

The sub is definitely not powered.

How about this: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Referenc ... 0CS5X5Z1C/

What I would really like to ensure is that I replace it with a similar output wattage...and I would also have to find a 4k/BR player.

That Klipsch and Onkyo package is a good deal - those Klipsch sound really good for the price.

The only dealer on Klipsch website for T&T is EHA Sales Ltd, 22 The Orchard, Moka, Diego Martin.
But I know Sound & Security in Valpark and Loud & Clear Audio also carry Klipsch.

It will surely sound better than the Samsung setup you had before

Dlp chips failure most times not worth the time to get fixed... Will get worst over time.. Better to get a new projector tbh
