Adverse Weather Alert #1 - Yellow Level

Start date (local time) Sat, May 17, 2025 6:00 PM
End date (local time) Sun, May 18, 2025 6:00 PM

Issuance time (local time) Fri, May 16, 2025 3:29 PM

Description: Low and mid-level south-easterly winds are expected to draw equatorial moisture over our area, thus increasing atmospheric moisture and instability this weekend. Moderate winds and substantial concentrations of Saharan dust are also expected over the next few days. While the dust is expected to limit widespread rainfall at times, there is still the medium potential for heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with associated gusty winds. Heavy or prolonged rainfall can lead to street/flash flooding. The ITCZ remains well south of Trinidad and Tobago at this time and is expected to move over our area early next week. Possible

Impacts: Street and/or flash flooding in areas so prone, localized ponding in low-lying areas, landslips and landslides, agitated sea conditions, electrical surges, movement of unsecured items and loose vegetation.

Instructions: Secure any loose outdoor objects and livestock. Continue to remain vigilant and monitor weather conditions, assessing your surroundings before venturing out. Take necessary precautions to mitigate potential impacts. Follow the instructions of government officials. Monitor weather updates from http://www.metoffice.gov.tt and http://www.odpm.gov.tt.

Area description: Trinidad and Tobago

Northern range water affects the settlements among the Caroni River. Not so much central.
That usually has a lag time of 8hrs from the start of the significant water fall till the time u start to see guabine in people yard.

Since this is the first major rainfall u will get a lot of absorption into the ground , so the flood effects above ground would be reduced and a lil more delayed.

Courses might reach up but drop down soon.

Went up Grande today. Plenty of the rivers heading up that side looked ok (not anywhere near capacity) except the one that on the East boundary of the Crossings.
