Speeding and failure to observer traffic lights seems like a big miss.

Also surprised they PBR also omitted
Dizz,

Six points just for using the PBR on top of 2000 seems a bit draconian.
Trinidadians are animals on the roads.
Draconian laws are needed for animals

I could nit pick about 1 or 2 other offenses that should have been included but generally I think the government got it right on this one. The narrative aside the demerit points system was not scrapped, it was adjusted to be less draconian.

This was never in place but an option that could be triggered by the Minister for any period (like long weekends) as an option. It was never used

at least d law still works to keep repeat DUI offenders off the road

https://newsday.co.tt/2025/07/18/man-escapes-probation-for-dui-but-banned-from-driving-for-life/

we just need something similar for repeat red light breakers or speedsters

but that fella need to check into AA - if he get ketch 3 times despite low detection levels it mean he was likely drunk half the time he driving

Also, automatic lifetime ban for...
possession of illegal firearm in vehicle, possession of drugs in vehicle, driving a stolen vehicle.
Also no renewal after serving prison sentence for serious offenses like murder, rape, kidnapping, etc.

he probably hit each stop with a few tickets to make up numbers.

if he want to be a cyant he could hit ppl with careless driving, which is a criminal offence and still carries demerit points

all them fellas breaking the double lines by the link road by linx hotel/lange could get touch. easy easy to rake up plenty fines there
