The CARICOM Summit KPB didn't attend I thought she was unique.
Turns out 7 of the 15 full members didn't have their Head of Govnt attend.

The CSME free movement by Oct 1st 2025 that mites saying we not implementing because of "you know what" was only signed on to by Barbados, Belize, Dominica and Saint Vincent despite Holness and Irfaan physically being present. The CSME's largest and 3rd largest populations have issues with the free movement of people clearly.

Alexander: Law coming to make it mandatory to carry identification

https://newsday.co.tt/2025/07/12/alexander-law-coming-to-make-it-mandatory-to-carry-identification/

GOVERNMENT is moving to make it mandatory for all citizens to walk with a form of identification at all times in an effort for the police to enforce proposed changes which would raise the legal age limit to consume alcohol, use marijuana and gamble.

Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander said on July 10 that the enforcement of the new laws was the responsibility of the police.

He said the Prime Minister had informed him of the proposal before she spoke at a political platform on July 7, in Penal. The PM proposed increasing the legal age to drink alcohol from 18 to 21 and increasing the age to smoke marijuana and gamble from 18 to 25.

"If you tell me you are 16 years old, I could say I’m 40 years old, but I am 17, so some people, more so, must walk with some form of ID so police can ascertain your age and your address. So it’s something we are looking to address.”

He said the new laws will make it easier to detect minors who consume alcohol.

“The AG is having discussions with respect to that issue."

Alexander updated the media following his participation in the 49th Caricom Heads of Government meeting in Jamaica.

does this mean you need ID all d time or only when buying/consuming alcohol? not that i dont already have an ID on me already but it's my DP, but if i travelling somewhere i probably wont need to have it.

that need to be clarified otherwise it sounds a bit draconian. "Papers please"

The Public Services Association (PSA) has rejected as “pure PNM propaganda” a social media post claiming Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John told PSA president Felisha Thomas the United National Congress (UNC) Government could not afford the promised 10 per cent salary increase.

I just want to publicly thank the UNC and the PSA as of yesterday the matter in the industrial court between the NIB and PSA which previous minister of finance colm imbert sent to punish workers since 2020 was finally withdrawn and now the signed agreement of 9 percent from 2014 to 2016 can be fulfilled.... when UNC wins ,everybody wins

I find this ID thing invasive. The police will abuse this and ID every person they come across. If you have no business with me, I do not see the need to ID to you

PNM Chairman questions ethnic makeup of new state boards

People’s National Movement (PNM) Chairman Marvin Gonzales is raising serious concern over what he describes as an imbalanced ethnic and racial composition among newly appointed state boards under the UNC-led government.

“When I look at it, I wonder if we’re living in Bangladesh or Delhi,” Gonzales declared at an Opposition news briefing at the Office of the Opposition Leader on Charles Street, Port of Spain.

He argued that boards made up predominantly of members from one race would never have been approved by former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

“You couldn’t bring a Cabinet note to Dr Keith Christopher Rowley with only a certain race being represented. It must represent Trinidad and Tobago. That is how a PNM Cabinet conducted itself,” Gonzales said.

Pointing to Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, who was present, Gonzales described the board appointment process under the PNM as rigorous, saying both Dr Rowley and former Finance Minister Colm Imbert would ask hard questions about racial composition.

“And he would ask you directly, is that board being taken from India, if it only represents a particular race, or is it a board from Ghana? And I remember Minister Imbert, as the Corporation Sole, would ask you, even before Cabinet, is that a board from Mozambique?”

He added, “As far as the PNM is concerned, the appointment of state boards must reflect a diverse society like Trinidad and Tobago.”

Gonzales said the public should be alarmed by this trend.

“If it doesn’t trouble you, then I don’t know what will trouble us as a society.”

He also questioned the political affiliations of several recent state appointments.

On Tuesday, UNC campaign manager Feroze Khan was appointed programme manager of the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP).

“And then you are seeing many of them being affiliated with government ministers, campaign managers,” he said.

He described it as “political hypocrisy to the highest.”

“And the same people, one of them Padarath-ing, job for the boys and job for the girls, PNM boys and PNM girls, in true Padarath style. And in the same way, jobs for the boys, jobs for the PNM boys, jobs for the PNM girls. Look at who are the UNC girls, and the UNC boys, doing the same thing.”

Gonzales is not the only one raising these concerns.

Michael Anisette, General Secretary of the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC), also criticised the composition of state boards, saying they lack ethnic and class diversity. He urged the UNC government to “rise above” race-based politics and ensure diversity in action, not just rhetoric.

Anisette warned that the current administration should avoid repeating the “missteps” of the previous one.
