I tink my mother throw away the castrol container, she say it was taking up space in the shelf! :( ill go check the receipt and see if it on that.

SNIPER 3000,i used the NP oil too for a few months, it does work real good. my mechanic had say most of them maxi taxis running it, and we all know how hard them maxis does work!

So far i spoke to three mechanic and one truck mechanic and they all said the NP diesel oil is the best.......the truck mech. said they hold out longer and the oil level takes longer to drop.......they change at 5000km.

He told me of a place in Monroe road there is a dealer for NP oil and you can go with your container and get it filled up, he has been doing it for years he buys by the barrel....Think is around $3000 a barrel.

I use mobil delvac1 (full synthetic) in the 1kz-te and change it every 7-8k km. Before the SR5, I used castrol in the 2l.

I've also heard good stuff about NP oil.

The key to all of this regular oil changes ... that's it.

^^van ftw

guys i getting some interesting problem. Last week i noticed alot of smoke coming out of my exhaust thick black smoke, and bluish/black on heavy acceleration. So I changed my oil/filters today. New oil,oil filter, fuel filter, air filter. However I still getting real smoke, like a truck :? and it pretty embarrassing, and unhealthy for the environment. I suspect I may be burning some oil. anyone have an idea of what might be the problem or had this sort of problem in a different vehicle or something?

bluish smoke could be an indication of blown turbo. How is the van responding? notice any drop in power?

^^nah, everything working just as before, turbo coming on as normal etc. just a setta smoke. no smoke when i at a cruising speed, only on accleration [gear 1-2] and when it now slips into 4 and building to 2500-3000RPM.

i thought was the fuel filter cuz i filled up at some poor stations a couple times since the last filter change!

could be a stuck or broken rings, or damaged combustion chamber, or even valve seal....

do a compression test and check the results...

the turbo could be working fine too eh buddy, but if that front seal damaged, it will pull oil into the intake and cause some smoking...

had a similar problem wit a 3C turbo, was abroken ring.....

civic boi, well after yuh ride the R6, yuh eh wah drive no car again.....

my cuz hav GSXR1000, from in dyette tr, the bike came modded, jus hearing it idle, yuh know no fast car eh able.....

droppa is correct, the turbo could be boosting fine but if the seal is bad it would leak oil on the exhaust side and cause the smoke, the bluish color you are seeing is an indication that it is oil, 90% of the time its the turbo than bad rings, pull the downpipe off and check that end, turbine side of the turbo

^^Cool. Ill check it out thursday or weekend. The seals on the turbo are like these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-C ... ccessories

If they are worn, won't it mean ill get smoke only when the turbo starts boosting? I get smoke when i press the acclerator too, like on pull off.

Aidan, i remembered you said you had to add water in your radiator after a long run
Is that still happening?

Does it bubble after the long run? Check that out.

^i think is FI and electronic fuel injection? i could be wrong.

I had some time today so i did some digging around. I drove with my glass down for a while today (usually i use AC all the time), and i could smell something like burning oil when i stop at a traffic light. So i checked the oil when i reach and, i saw something looking like smoke coming up the tube? dunno if my eyes was deceiving me. But i assume that's a sign of back pressure? It took about 3/4 of a 1QT bottle to top up the oil from Sunday to today. lol.

I blocked off the EGR today too, and it reduced d smoke, but the turbo started spooling at a higher RPM, ill unblock it weekend when i get time again. But that is a freaking hard task to do. Didnt get a chance to see if the turbo downpipe had oil.

I go check the mech. weekend and see if he cud help mih find wat going on.

SNIPER 3000,the water not bubbling. I does only have to add water every now and then. Like once every 3 days. And i don't really drive hard, i rarely cross 90-100kmph even when d road clear.

1KZ-T
The 1KZ-T is an early version of 1KZ-TE, 2982 cc, 4 cylinders, SOHC, 2 valve per cylinder turbo diesel engine. Bore is 96 mm and stroke is 103 mm, with a compression ratio of 21.2:1. Maximum output is 125 hp (93 kW) @ 3600 rpm and maximum torque is 29.3 kgf·m (287 N·m) @ 2000 rpm.

Used in KZJ71W, KZJ78W

1KZ-TE
The 1KZ-TE is a 3.0 L (2982 cc), 4 cylinders, SOHC, 2 valves per cylinder turbo diesel engine with indirect injection. Bore is 96 mm and stroke is 103 mm, with a compression ratio of 21.2:1. Maximum output is 130 hp (97 kW) @ 3600 rpm with maximum torque of 29.3 kgf·m (287 N·m) @ 2000 rpm. Redline is 4400 rpm. First produced in 1993, it is still used in new model vehicles today. 1KZ-TE also adopt the electronically controlled fuel injection, ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control System - intelligent) technology which is similar in basic construction to a modern gasoline injector, although utilizing considerably higher injection pressures, it is an indirect injection engine which gives it a significant efficiency and fuel consumption penalty. It was replaced in most markets with the 1KD-FTV engine which is common-rail direct injection and uses considerably less fuel.

Used in KZJ71W, KZJ78W, KZN160.

The intercooler equipped version of the engine power up to maximum output of 145 hp (108 kW) [Aust. 130hp (96kW)] @ 3600 rpm and maximum torque of 35.0 kgf·m (343 N·m) @ 2000 rpm.

Used in KZJ90 (Prado, Colorado 3-door), KZJ95 (Prado, Colorado 5-door)[1], KZJ185 prado.

wonder if a 1KZ could use my transmission + tcase and bolt up in my engine bay. anyone knows for sure?

civicious, when u all fit the 1kz in your surf, did you all have to fabricate anything?or a direct drop in.

the 1KZ and 2L is a different bolt pattern around the tranny, idont think this would work, some chop, cut and rebuild would be necessary.....

AFAIK the hilux and surf sahre the same bay, so a KZ will bolt up original in a 2L surf, once u have the correct mounts and brackets...

if yuh hadda resort to engine hunting check automart in longdenville, they had a front half they part out and have the engine and tranny with harness remaining still...
