Is that driving without a DP cause you don't have one, or is it that if you forget your wallet and have the fortune to get ketch in a
roadblock or something similar?

If it's the latter, is it true you have 24 hours to present your DP to a stipulated police station?

Driving without a dp would fall under expired or never having been issued one.
If you don't have it on you the offence is fail to produce.

There is no time stipulation to produce a dp, it must be produced on demand. The 24hr thing is a concession (bligh) given by the police, the law makes no allowances for this.

If you do not have DP on demand. You are human - You forget it home or at office ? NP

Take the ticket in a quiet way - no fuss with Police - they only have 2 CXC passes - Grade 7

Go to Court and produce it to the Judge.

Watch Police face.

Priceless .

What ticket yuh illiterate kant?

Watching your face when you get put in a cell with Bubba and big willy.

Priceless.

Still fighting up with a chess burn ..

So sad.

G Dog's gold teeth glisten and shine as he bellows at his own joke.
Flytrap responds "yeah yeah dawggg, ouuu gouuudd boy Stacy and dat fat bamsee lewwe doh fuhget de cyat, pum pum fatt inno! light de ting nah what yuh waiting on?"

As they proceed to light their marijuana and settle in for the day, in walks Jankie with phone in hand looking exceptionally frustated. He rests his gun on the table and looks at G Dog and Flytrap with disgust.
"Allyuh see dis fcukery today?" he asks while almost being enveloped in weed smoke.
"wha you talking bout dog" asks Flytrap.
Jankie starts to pace, "boy...boy...boy...dem police boy, dem traffic wardens and dem puh out dis ting here with one setta fcukin fines boy dadda, it sending me mad!"
"Fines, badman doh pay fines, we fine yuh gyull! har har har" states G Dog while he takes another pull, exhaling halfway in the air and the rest on the blunt looking at it ever so lovingly.

Jankie realises the situation that his two best friends do not pay attention to anything further than their block and proceeds to enlighten them, "hoss is four car I hah ow dey wukkin, dem fcukin fine fuh seatbelt and bulb and breaking light go brokes mih"
G Dog and Flytrap both freeze and stare at Jankie, the room becomes silent where you can only hear the remainder of the blunt slightly crackling as the embers dance and glow in G Dog's hand.

Flytrap opens his mouth and the words coming out seem to burn into Jankie's ears, "Boy no police not harassing we up here boy, fcuk dem and fcuk ah ticket, how ah sound dey G?"
"Janks dawg, you really think is we the police and govament targeting with that setta fcukery, is dem stupidmen dem who going to wuk everyday har har har! chimes in G Dog.
Flytrap starts to laugh uncontrollably which causes G Dog to do the same and he eventually rolls off the sofa. a magazine drops out of his pocket and Flytrap cannot contain himself.
The laughter ensues for what seems an eternity.

Jankie ponders and takes out a pack of Broadway from his camouflage three quarter pants and packs it on his wrist, "throw ah lighter dey" he says and G Dog hands him one.

As he takes in pull after pull, Jankie looks out the window and repeats the statement G Dog made earlier. He smiles, for it is the truth.

What you talking about ? You sound like you does run PH or worse "pull bull."

You get a traffic ticket because you have committed a crime - misdemeanor .

If you drink Stag or Bay Rum and drive and speed, break a red light or drive, or park or sheit on the pavement -
you have committed a crime.

So the Law intervenes and you pay a fine or get your license taken away or go to jail.

Tickets solve crime.

Tickets wins. Crime solving win .

Actually this is the only crime TTPS can solve with their 2 CXC Grade 8 - and weave.

as i said before Demerit should only be for serious offences that may result from the offense dangerous driving DUI defective tyres wheel assembly etc...... ,not a blown light ..not a little crack on a windshield --- some ttps are very wicked ..... lots of ppl may accumulate points for petty stuff.........we should not be celebrating this...

What is going to be your position at night you stop at a traffic light and see someone approaching your vehicle in a menacing manner i.e looks as if this person is out to rob you.

So to avoid getting robbed you break the traffic light and let the govt rob you instead.

the heavier demerit points should be for the intentional breaking of the law

ie speeding(speed based), overtaking on shoulder, no seatbelts, cellphone talking,
driving up oneway st, reversing around a corner

You forget parking in handicap parking. I fed up see people park and come out the car giggling like if the park was reserved for them. And it seem that they honestly didn't know that they can't park there.

You just unlucky - Need a bush bath and 2 panadol.

The Law is not for extremely unlucky people - it is for the average person who knows
his windshield is cracked and know his tail lights are blown - and continues .

But busy drinking Bush Rum . It is for the stone cold law breaker . The Ranker.

I waiting for a Law to ban ALL those diesel polluters in the City .

That thick black smoke need a $20,000 fine . And take away the Taxi Badge.

Same thing goes for a light bulb .If at the moment ur driving, a bulb goes out and you know it by indicator on dash. What do in that situation? Can you put on ur warning lights while you go driving to buy the lights? So when you get pulled over you can tell the police what happened and reason with them. But would they still charge you?

Have a good friend who does tinting and signs etc, and he told me that all officers who came to do their private cars requested 5%. ALL.
So everytime he cautioned them they still insisted that he do it only saying, "nah doh worry about that, we have it covered man".
People are fed up and this gov't just driving the stick into our eyes now.

Anyone can explain the rationale of the speeding fine being 7X higher when caught by a speeding camera as opposed to being caught by a speed gun?

i await you coming here and crying about your first ticket.
The thing is you can get a cracked windscreen any where at any time , Yes if your windscreen cracked to the point where it is obscuring your vision yes that should be a ticket even better remove the vehicle from the road until it is fixed .
But this law is another opaque law where it is up to the police discretion some idiot is going to give a person a ticket for a chip .

Same goes for a blown light bulb it could happen any time . again if you driving around at night and it blown yes but during daylight hours they stopping you and asking you to turn on your lights to check that is sheit.

Gringo - I have gotten lots of tickets from idiots who call themselves Police ..with 2 CXC Grade 8 .

I can handle them in Court . Laws are made for a purpose . If you not like - Organize & Protest .

My point is that you have broken windshield or a blown light - regardless - you will be charged .

To say that you get broken windshield / blown light - then 2 minutes you get caught by Police -

Well you just fu..ed . And you blight . As simple as that Gringo .

Wtf an increase of a fine of $300 to $10000? Is that a typo?

And when exactly are they going to increase the speed limit? Or will they lose out on revenue from fines from most of the drivers who in the 80-100 kph range? In which case we shouldn't hold out breath for this

There is no issue if you simply obey the law and also maintain your vehicle, for those with the 'cant afford' argument......travel or walk

Most of the people pushing for these laws in parliment do not cross the lighthouse. Arrive alive...batson....and those in government now mostly stay in the west and do not have first hand experience on what the rest of the country has to deal with. Arrive alive on her own personal agenda. Some of those traffic violations penalties are ridiculously stupid and allows no leeway. A fixed penalty ticket should be issued instead of a ticket allowing a certain time frame to repair the issue such as non working lights and cracked windscreen. Tint law remains as vague as possible and up to the discretion of the officer. Power given to traffic wardens who are not police officers but can easily victimize motorists as a form of bullying.

So when is this going to be in effect?
Tell me it isn't right away

Usual ridiculous fines to scare people.
Imagine if you either have to pay your 81km/hr speeding ticket or buy groceries for your family
Banks need to come out with a speeding ticket loan

Cops giving out tickets for driving sub 100km/hr are a special level of moron and the personification of everything wrong with Trinidad today. The law or not..... It's just not practical and doesn't hurt the citizens of Trinidad at all. Of course they could do some real work and solve some"serious" crimes or even prevent some.
Was doing 110 on the highway yesterday and had to cruise on the slow lane.... Most people cruise at 120-130 again.

Only thing there that is constructive is the red light cameras
And the child car seats
